The Office of the Health Ombudsman publishes snapshot reports to provide information to the public and health service providers about:

  • identifying and dealing with health service issues and complaints
  • identifying and reporting on systemic issues in the way health services are provided
  • providing health services in ways that minimises health service complaints
  • resolving health service complaints

The reports focus on sharing key issues, outcomes and/or learnings arising from a variety of activities undertaken by the OHO to inform and promote improvements in the safety and quality of health service delivery.

Reports may relate to the following activities:

  • investigations when it is not appropriate to publish the full report or completed in conjunction with the publication of a fulsome investigation report
  • proactive activities following a review and analysis of OHO data or information received on safety and quality issues in health service delivery
  • outcomes of conciliation and other resolution processes
  • outcomes following referral of matters to State or Commonwealth entities
  • a service’s progress on implementation of recommendations arising from an investigation
